What happened to you today?

My daughter just had the front brakes done on her car a few weeks ago. Yesterday she calls and says the front end is making a grinding noise, and it's getting worse. Thankfully she had enough sense to pull over.

Bottom line, BOTH bolts holding the caliper on the right front wheel had come loose and were gone. The entire caliper was just hanging on the rotor. Got it back to the shop that did the work and raised hell with them. They admitted it was their fault (duh! no kidding!) and that they'd screwed up. I told the manager that's nice of you to admit that mistake, but how the heck could you let someone out the door with a brake job done so poorly? Does anybody check the work? Thankfully she was on city streets and not on the freeway. Doubly thankful this shoddy workmanship did not cause the wheel to lock up and cause an accident. Still fuming.

I expect they replaced the bolts and reinstalled the rotor at no charge. Did they check the OTHER wheels for problems?

Got cussed out at work by a customer when the herbal pill he's used to buying is no longer being made, so he had to spend an extra $1 on a different one...but that wasn't what he cussed me out for. The cussing out was because I refused to give him(for free) the bottle of water that's the only thing I have to drink while i'm at work.

After returning to work( after being out with a torn rotator cuff for 4 weeks) that my brilliant co-workers used orbital sanders and put deep circular marks /swirls in my nice wooden panels. I'd spent a lot of time making these panels look great. The entire 2nd floor of a new house. 6 rooms. 4 bathrooms. The gouges and deep marks showed up after a the 3rd coat of paint. (Gloss ) they usually blame me for this type thing but this time I wasn't there. Gotta love working with people like this. As the song goes "I'm not gonna let it bother me tonight "

Kind of a mixed weekend. My daughter left for Australia with her boyfriend, landed safely, so that was good. (Still not happy about my child being half a planet away, but that's a Dad's job, right?) Ran a 10K Saturday morning and beat my time last year by almost 3 minutes, which for an old geezer like me is pretty decent. Played a charity auction that night and we sounded spot on, but the crowd left early, which was definitely a bummer. But, I bought a raffle ticket at the event and won a Ruger 6.5 Creedmoor. First rifle/raffle I ever won! Going to sight it in this afternoon.
