What happened to you today?

I really like the random thought and what did you learn today threads, but I thought it would be cool if we could have a thread to express an event or something that happened to you today, each day. It would be cool to discuss these but I'm sure myself and no one else would want to start new threads about each one.

Today I had a frustrating situation. Another female parent went off on my eight year old girl as witnessed by other parents around her at school. One of them called my ex wife to let her know what she saw. She told my daughter not to talk to her daughter and to stay away and that she was mean. My daughter is no angel but neither is this girl's daughter, and the truth is no one knows exactly what happened. She dressed down my daughter, intimidated her, and made her cry in front of other people. Just last week, they were 2 peas in a pods, laughing and having fun as I picked her up. I'm not sure exactly how angry I'm supposed to be, and I know this women and it seems out of character. I'm willing to forgive as kids are difficult and everyone loses it now and again, but my ex wife is fuming. I'll see this woman tomorrow when I pick up my girl.

Hope the situation sorts itself out.

I actually had a good day yesterday. Heard from some hunters that about half a dozen cows and calves were still up on the summer range, which by now is covered by more than a foot of snow. Last Friday I took my horse and found half of them. Yesterday the neighbor and I went up and found the rest and brought them home. Always a good feeling to know everybody is back, especially when we'd pretty well written these animals off as dead.

Hey, the cows are home... party time!

Sometimes when things like this happen, the parents can become enemies while their kids go back to being best friends the next day.

If it was boys, they could go outside, hit each other a few times, and be best friends again. Girls could do the same thing. The parents should wipe away any tears, give the kid a hug, and let them be best friends again.

I almost got hit by a car yesterday. I was crossing the street at the intersection, a four way stop. A car was turning left right in front of me, no problem we see each other. Well, the guy behind him at the four way decided not to stop at the sign and just follow the guy ahead of him through the intersection, turning right in front of me while I crossed the road.
He stopped about four feet in front of me, rolled down his window to apologize. I reminded him that this intersection is a school crossing zone and that had a kid been me instead, he likely would have hit them.
Truth be told, I was quite impressed with my own ability to not completely lose it on the guy... I must be maturing...

Ya know that moment when you're standing at the door, looking out over your 12 students, and two of them are diligently at work on a multi-step math problem, and 5 are Reading silently (so they can earn more AR points) and the rest are immersed in a Volcano project that they have to have ready for this afternoon...and one of the members of the volcano group is here for only his 2nd day, and his peers are treating him like an old friend...
and you're standing at the door thinking "Hush up, Tom. Do Not step into the room for fear of breaking the spell!"

Yeah.
That happened to me this morning...

My 23-yr-old niece was in town visiting so we drove her up to Sedona, that part of Arizona with the majestic red cliffs and rock. Kind of an 'artsy/new age' kind of place, but still a nice day-trip. She liked many of the galleries and the Chapel of the Holy Cross

Was okay for me but being I've been there a handful of times over the years it was old hat, and since nobody was into hiking or going up to Oak Creek, twas a ho-hum trip for me. But she had fun and that's all that mattered.

Woke up this morning to discover that the last few days at work in the cold and rain have taken their toll.
Struggled manfully with it for a few hours, managed to make dinner for the wife and kids when they get home, even washed the dishes, but now I'm treating myself to a couple of hot whiskies and getting to bed.
Typical.
I've three days off and this happens.
Hopefully it's a one-day thing and not full-blown man-flu!

To cheer myself up, I'll leave this here...

Got ready to do a software upgrade to give my warehouses some new functionality in their scanners. Had a conference call to review with senior management and they hit me with new rules. 1 hour before rolling it out. Had a quick sprint this morning and me and the lead dev found a solution to the new rules, dev'd, tested, and are ready to roll out again today.

We could have just thrown it back at them that this is a change and needs a full dev project created. We just did the damn thing because the warehouses needed it.

The little wins in life, you know.

At least he apologised...here the driver would roll down the window to yell "get the f#$k out of the way!" or at least roll their eyes and stare you down angrily.

I fell down the stairs in the wee hours of the morning and seemed to have done a number on my back! Yay me! Lots of pain. Lots of screaming. Wife assumed I was literally dying. None too happy that she was woken up from a deep sleep. Moral of the story (as told by my wife): "Next time turn the lights on when you are going down stairs and have a toddler in the house". Also, "You are such a klutz". Thanks captain obvious.

Hope you're OK Joe. Move to a single story house!
