What happened to you today?

Apologies in advance, this isn't a happy one...

This morning I heard my sister-in-law's ex-husband has passed after a short battle with cancer.
We were close friends once, shared family holidays, and photography trips, but he walked out on his wife and daughter.
Now, I get marriages break up and wasn't getting into who was to blame or anything, but it's my belief that a father doesn't abandon a daughter, especially one in poor health.
We had some harsh words over coffee shortly after he walked out, and haven't spoken since.

Thankfully he did somewhat reconcile with the daughter before he passed, but overall, he acted like a complete jerk the last few years ... over money, etc.
Obviously it's sad to hear of anyone passing, especially to cancer (and more so as that's what took my own brother), but I have to honestly say I'm almost glad he's gone.
Now, his ex and the daughter can move on with their lives, which have been in a sort of limbo since he took ill.

Dropped by Jimmy John's on the way home & had a Vito, not really impressed.

Received more catalogs in the mail that I don't want & made the 3rd or 4th calls to Sam Ash & GameStop to get them to stop sending me those things.
The guy at Sam Ash had some weird thing where he kept mispronouncing my name, EVERY time he repeated it back to me. So, I guess I know why I've had to call them so many times

Best I can make out at this point, it is from around 1901-1902. I am waiting to hear back from someone with more info on it. It is most likely a #312 1/2, but I have come across similar chairs that were identified as a #354 1/2. Any Gustav Stickley experts around here?

It is next to a 1912-1916 era #819 sideboard that we picked up a couple summers ago.

I'll go you one better. Wifey has had cable for over 4 years now and they still have yet to send us a single piece of mail, including a bill. I used to mention it when I had them on the phone because I couldn't pay them on line. Every time I checked our account they showed us owing over eight hundred dollars and when I'd call to ask why or to find out what we actually owed I would mention it would be helpful if they could at least send us a bill and I have to go through the whole process of giving them our address and info, only to again not get a bill. I finally gave up and just quit mentioning it.

And here's some irony for you. I have a PO box for all my business affairs and after more than 20 years of using the same box, I still get cable company add mail and such for the former holder of my PO box.

It is next to a 1912-1916 era #819 sideboard that we picked up a couple summers ago.

I love it. My grandfather was a wood worker and my dad was an upholsterer who made frames and furniture. I personally would leave the chair as it is, but they make furniture correction pens that work well and can fill in the small scuffs etc without a hitch, like on the edge of the left front leg.

This vintage Stickley stays just the way it is. I spent the afternoon cleaning it up and may do some more tomorrow. After that, this chair just gets used a s chair for us. It's really in quite excellent shape for 116 years old. It will be a daily user for us, we don't buy things as museum pieces, but for what they are intended to be used for. Just as the 819 sideboard will be used for everyday things.

Pretty good. There was a lot of good discussion, and the hiring manager seemed to like me a lot. We will see what happens.
