You found out that it is hard to wipe finger prints off of chocolate frosting? For the first time ever, I purposely wiped my fingerprints off of something
No, it wasn't a weapon, window, or a mirror ...
and that's all I'm saying![]()

I almost got hit by a car yesterday. I was crossing the street at the intersection, a four way stop. A car was turning left right in front of me, no problem we see each other. Well, the guy behind him at the four way decided not to stop at the sign and just follow the guy ahead of him through the intersection, turning right in front of me while I crossed the road.
He stopped about four feet in front of me, rolled down his window to apologize. I reminded him that this intersection is a school crossing zone and that had a kid been me instead, he likely would have hit them.
Truth be told, I was quite impressed with my own ability to not completely lose it on the guy... I must be maturing...

Ouch. Hope you're back on your feet soon.I fell down the stairs in the wee hours of the morning and seemed to have done a number on my back! Yay me! Lots of pain. Lots of screaming. Wife assumed I was literally dying. None too happy that she was woken up from a deep sleep. Moral of the story (as told by my wife): "Next time turn the lights on when you are going down stairs and have a toddler in the house". Also, "You are such a klutz". Thanks captain obvious.
I really like the random thought and what did you learn today threads, but I thought it would be cool if we could have a thread to express an event or something that happened to you today, each day. It would be cool to discuss these but I'm sure myself and no one else would want to start new threads about each one.
Today I had a frustrating situation. Another female parent went off on my eight year old girl as witnessed by other parents around her at school. One of them called my ex wife to let her know what she saw. She told my daughter not to talk to her daughter and to stay away and that she was mean. My daughter is no angel but neither is this girl's daughter, and the truth is no one knows exactly what happened. She dressed down my daughter, intimidated her, and made her cry in front of other people. Just last week, they were 2 peas in a pods, laughing and having fun as I picked her up. I'm not sure exactly how angry I'm supposed to be, and I know this women and it seems out of character. I'm willing to forgive as kids are difficult and everyone loses it now and again, but my ex wife is fuming. I'll see this woman tomorrow when I pick up my girl.
Girls.....young and old.....come with a lot of complications. I wouldn't want to imagine a world without them though. That lady is just mean. Yelling at my eight year old is my job only. And I do it in private.
My "what happened" from yesterday is kind of depressing. (Sorry) I couldn't get myself together all day.
Yesterday morning, on the way to the same school my girls go to, there was a horrible accident. A young woman was driving her 6 year old kid to school. It was raining super hard. She hydroplaned and over corrected. She slammed head on into another car. She was killed. The kid (other than a few bumps and bruises) was fine. That kid is the same age as my youngest. I tried to imagine what it would be like for my daughter to be in the back seat and witness her mother being killed....and the few minutes afterwards when it was just that kid and its mother alone in the car. The kid was probably screaming "MOMMY!" over and over. The kid was in our hospital yesterday and it was all I could do to keep from clocking out and just going over there to love on that family. I did find out through some connections who they are. My church is looking at helping them out somehow.
It almost made me sick. I seriously couldn't get it together all day. The whole day people were talking to me and I didn't even hear them.
It was the top headline on our local news station web site for about half a day. By mid afternoon that lady and her (now motherless) kid were bumped down below local politics and and new stoplight cameras. By last night, you had to click a few links to even get to it.
Just love on your kid and teach her to rise above the drama. Life is too short to give "them" any of your energy.
(Sorry for the depressing post....but you asked.)
Jeez.
One moment, rain. The next, world-shattering tragedy. It's always a hair's breadth away.
To lose a loved one to an accident like that, so suddenly and without meaning, without preparation or closure, with nobody to blame... I can't imagine the pain, and yet I guess it happens all the time..
Kind of a morning-wrecker, but thanks for sharing. Makes you think.

Hope you're OK Joe. Move to a single story house!

I'm not sure you know what free means.I got two free buffets at the casino today. They only cost me about $15.
In and around casinos, what you get for "free" is based on what and how long you play, how much you win or lose, and what is available. That is the "free" I meant.I'm not sure you know what free means.
