What happened to you today?

I received an alarming message about my father today and rushed a few hours ago to his assisted living home only to discover that he passed away. No one saw it coming, the cancer hit him hard. I am beyond davastated. I'm crying outside the home, crying in my car.
Aww 'dub, I'm sorry to hear/ read that. Best to you and the rest of the fam going thru it :(

Drove though Santa Rosa, CA today. Stopped for lunch at a fav place on the west side. Drove through one of the unlucky neighborhoods on my way back to the 101. Damn...

And yeah Dub... my sympathies. If your dad was suffering in silence, he's not suffering now.

Spent the largest part of the day with the backpack blower cranked up. We live under the canopy...white oaks, mostly.
Man! I stayed on it.
Created a YUUGE pile of leaves.
I struggle with setting a match to it...That much more carbon up into the air!

I laid my father to rest today. I had my share of emotion, but really enjoyed hearing all the good things people had to say about him. I'm going to use this as a fresh start for myself moving forward.

I caught my daughter and her cousin having a moment today before the burial.

I know that words don't do a lot, but I am sorry for your loss.

I went and got rid of the yard waste at the garbage dump. Then I recorded some t.v. shows. Then I re-routed a furnace duct.

Then I worked on basslines and backing tracks. Then I had some coffee and cake.

Then I exercised. Then logged on to TalkBass. Then looked at a music video on YouTube. Then had dinner. Then worked on basslines some more.

TalkBass again after that. Then watched t.v. with my S.O.

Then had a samwich.

What kind of samwich? Details are important, especially since it is too late for pics.

Fun day so far.
Woke up, coffee, croissants and a brief TB browse.
Had a nice walk in wintry sunshine through my local park, ending up at my physio clinic, where I got my third spinal steroid injection to ease back problems.
That took a while as the local anaesthetic needle broke going in!
Got a lift home from there, prepared dinner for the family (roast chicken, roast garlicky potatoes, carrots, peas and gravy if anyone's interested), baked an apple pie, while listening to a new Darrell Scott album.
Right now, the local's about to wear off, so I'm gonna take a couple of painkillers and sleep through the incoming pain.

I do plan on a bit of bass practice later on...probably learn some Duck Dunn lines from @bopeuph 's Soul Fingers book.
Speaking of Duck, I was watching the Bob Dylan 30th anniversary whatever-it-was concert on dvd last night.
I've had the dvd a few years, only ever watched it once, and never realised what a house band they had.
Duck, Steve Cropper, Jim Keltner, Booker T.
Solid as a rock and groovin' all the way.
A bit depressing how many that featured that night have passed...

I just woke up *yawn*, don't usually sleep this late  Coffee and TB time!

I'm not quite understanding how having coffee is way down at 5th on your list, after leaving the house, and doing work like stuff ... What kind of voodoo is this?? :eyebrow:
