This thread is a real coincidence because that is exactly what happened to my mom! Soon after she got the funk I retired, sold all of my gear, and learned how to bake. After I'd won a lot of baking contests, blue ribbons at state fairs, etc. she hung up the bass and is back in the kitchen. I've given up baking, but I still wear my favorite apron for special gigs.

Her publishing company, Gwyn Publishing, she named for her third child, so, yes.

All of the mundane, common topics have been covered ad nauseum. People get responses like "the search box is your friend" and whatnot because TBers get tired of hearing the same stuff rehashed. So, yeah... I welcome a little weirdness now and again. Besides, the pandemic is making people act loopy and I am no exception.
I like the way you think and besides your thread is as valid and useful as most of the other stuff posted on here.
Anything that makes people smile, think creatively and have a bit of fun is a positive.
Why not expect a bit of weird from someone who's avatar is a raving upper class twit?
Back on topic, I would have loved it if my mum had been a great bass player, though with her charicter she may have been more The Ox than Jaco, but yeah, she would have been better and I'd have happily switched to guitar to be in her band.
Circa 1971, I attended a clinic of hers at my local music store. I was pretty young, but even then I knew who she was. This was in the time period after things were ramping down for the Wrecking Crew. Carol was on the road with a daughter, about 10, 11 years old, doing these appearances, I guess at that time she was a single mother. I later read that one of her daughters passed away at a young age(she has two children surviving), so I wonder if that was Gwyn.
One thing I know - it wouldn't translate well into a "Yo' momma" joke!
