Well if the logo on the neck is to be believed it is a MIM. 950 is a lot to pay for a hacked up Mexican Fender.

A quick Google search shows several '61 RI Fender Eldorado basses. Looks like someone decided to accentuate the "Eldorado" part. I have heard of some of the builders in the Fender factories doing builds on the side. Maybe one of those? Ugly body. but cool color.

Went back and took another look. If you go to the seller's other listings you will see a bunch of custom painted and engraved pickguards as well as other engraved and painted items. He probably works in a custom paint shop and/or body shop.

Doesn't look simple to me, at all. It's not for me but someone put a lot of quality work into that. I'd defy anyone saying he/she just noodled with a dremel, do anything as cleanly executed/finished as that.

Sure it is something difficult to do well but that bass isn't a special model or anything.
