What is the absolute bare minimum you can get by with ?

I could make arguments for like 5 of my 6 basses to hold on to. I have a American mm sub and a fender special run which are both excellent basses and less than common. I have a mim fender jazz 5 that I recorded 2 albums on. Then I have a squier Affinity that I put mods in so it's both perfect and I will never get the money back out of. Then I have my monstrosity called the gorse. A dean z body painted crown royal purple with a squier maple with black block neck, Duncan's, high mass bridge, custom neck plate. Who would ever want this thing? And we know I'm not recouping that money

Tricky question, since my 76 PBass with flats is my preferred bass at the moment and works best for all of the gigs I'm currently doing.

However, my 99 EBMM 5 string Stingray could potentially cover those gigs, plus anything else that might come along in the future that the P might not be appropriate for.

I'd want to keep the P, but I think I'd have to choose the Stingray to be on the safe side.

I can get by with anything that intonates and generates a signal.

That said, my Alembic Series bass can give me just about any tone I can hear in my head, and it's a delight to play. That bass is a keeper that I can't see parting with.

My fretless Lakland 5502 has probably gotten the most use since I bought it a decade or more ago.

The new Rickenbacker 4003S would probably be my bunker bass though, as it's the only fully passive instrument I own right now.

Who am I fooling? They'd all make it into the bunker.

The minimum I can get by with? Funny enough, I think about this often, usually whenever new or new-to-me gear arrives. If I only had these, I could hang in most recording/gigging environments I can think of.

Lakland Decade -- very playable, powerful pups too

Last to go? The Lakland, tho I have a soft spot for my 20 year old mim J.

My 1971 4001 ric. Because it is my rarest bass and hardest to replace. And it plays so well.

But right now i could probably be able to part with only my longhorn. The rest have sentimental value (4003, mexican jazz that was my first bass) or are too new and awesome to get rid of: dingwall ng2 and another 4003, 4005, and dingwall afterburner on order.

Guess I should say I'm set for an Amp. Gk MB200 and a 210 is more than enough.

Pedals I've never found personally necessary
