What is the absolute bare minimum you can get by with ?

I only own 4 basses, and my new Maruszczyk would be the last to go.
It's my most versatile bass (active/passive, Series/Single Coil/Parallel capabilities, perfect balance, great weight and great tone).

Oh yeah, and it PURDY too! :smug:

That teal M5V is equipped with Nord Vintage 70s wind pups and a John East J Retro preamp, both installed later after I bought it. Man, my holy grail of Jazz bass tone.

I also have a P5 with the Duncan custom- wound P pup. It’s totally stock with the passive electronics. And it’s the loudest, gnarliest P-style bass I ever heard! Almost hard to listen to when practicing alone, but mixes perfectly with the band or recorded. Love it!

Cool, mine has the Nordstrand Pickup, & it sounds great, but I wouldn’t mind trying a Duncan in it one day- I do like a gnarly,growly P bass tone- like Dave hope (from Kansas’s) Song for America album ! Thanks for the info on the Lull!

Interesting question. Most people seem to have answered with which bass/es they'd hold onto for as long as is possible. But, the question is:

What's the absolute minimum you can get by with?

So, if times got really hard I guess I could sell the wireless system and go back to cables, the 5 string next probably. Be sad to see it go but still got two more gigable basses in my weaponry. After that would be the 115 cab, got a 115 Ashdown combo that I could potentially use unhooked as a second cab if I needed too.

The ABM 300 head would go next in extreme circumstances meaning I could d.i. Out the combo and 210 to a desk if absolutely necessary.

I'd probably loose the Octave off my board next, got a sub octave switch on the Ashdown, yeah it would be a pain having to remember to switch on and off during set but, needs must. Similar for my compressor, if I'm going through the desk and pa anyway I'm sure I can set a sound negating this if things get really tough.

The Big Muff would be next. Currently it's only used in about 3 songs we play but it's there, could get around it if necessary.

In dire circumstances I'd loose the 210 next and just have a 115 combo and then probably the Thunderbird would go meaning the minimum I could get by with would be:

Ashdown EB 180 115 combo
Tuner
Soul food OD
Behringer BDI 21
Parts P Bass.

Currently a Fender CS, which isn't actually my best bass in terms of build, but I've swapped out hardware etc, which was 'poor' and got it working well.
I have in mind to plek it but for feel and sound, it is currently 'there' atm.
