What is the absolute bare minimum you can get by with ?

Keith Roscoe knocked it out of the park with this one as far as I'm concerned this is the one I'll never part with.

I was really hoping this was a "least amount of equipment you can get by on at a gig" type of thing. It seems to have turned (devolved?) into "what you would save if your house was burning" thread.

My answer for both of those questions is "nothing". I don't play out and my bass would most likely be the last thing on my mind in a fire scenario.

Tough call. Sadowsky Metro WL5/Xotic XB-2/Yamaha BB2000 fretless. OK... probably the Sadowsky, which pips the Xotic on ergonomics, and the BB2000 by way of frets.

Well, bass related? Bare minimum, any of my Basses would do. The lull, fedora, sadowsky, 6000 dollar custom? Nope it'd be my Fender P-bass.
Just kidding I only have Fenders and not even sure if I spelled those other ones correctly. But since all three of my Fenders are by each other I'd get the P-bass.
The only band I'm in and ever been in is our three piece family band and my guitarist son would let me have a strap, cable, tuner and I could play directly thru our PA. So just my bass and hands is my bare minimum.

Ok I was curious as to what would make the cut for some . Everyone here has different preferences and nobody mentioned fender or another brand at all. Had nothing to do with it.
This place is ridiculous at times .

The last to go in my collection isn’t the bare minimum I could get by with. The last to go would be my 69 Jazz and Aguilar Antique Ivory SL112s/MiniMax 500. But the bare min. I could get by with is my $300 parts bass (I use for backup but it plays and sounds great) and my Markbass CMD 121P combo.

Probably this old thing, despite the issues I have with playability and ergonomics on the right arm. I feel like I spent way too much time with this in both fiddling around with adjustments and playing that i'd be the toughest to let go. It has the "first-one" itis.

My teal-finished Lull M5V is the only bass I’ll simply never let go or do without.

Congrats, Killer lull there ! I’ve got a lull P5 that is great... I’ve always wanted to try a lull Jazz style 5 after hearing Bryan bellers older red lull, (w/ Seymour Duncan pickups & bart pre)... killer sounding basses !

No doubt about those Lulls…
That teal M5V is equipped with Nord Vintage 70s wind pups and a John East J Retro preamp, both installed later after I bought it. Man, my holy grail of Jazz bass tone.

I also have a P5 with the Duncan custom- wound P pup. It’s totally stock with the passive electronics. And it’s the loudest, gnarliest P-style bass I ever heard! Almost hard to listen to when practicing alone, but mixes perfectly with the band or recorded. Love it!
