What is the best midi drum beat

I got the audacity program and i am a bassist. I have a brother and a cuz that play guitar. one is going to play rythm and one lead. we just need a drum midi or if there is a way a drum beat program were you can make your own. Help plz

Depends on how much work you want to do and you much you want to spend. If you want premade drum loops, check out ACID. If you want to program your own beats, look at Battery or ezDrummer. ezDrummer also includes a good amount of premade beats that can be drag/dropped as midi info in a sequencer with VST support.

There are some others I'm sure but those are the ones I know

If you want premade drum loops, check out ACID.

I have tried a few midi-based drum machines and pattern editors, but when I got exposure to Acid and pre-recorded drum loops, I knew it was the solution for me.

I'm not saying it is the "best" option. Every option has pros and cons, however, this was the best fit for me. Pre-recorded "loops" have limitations such being limited in mixing and matching a drum kits as well as some production limitations such as levels and panning of individual componets of the kit, but the pros far out weight the down sides in my view.

Are all Acid programs created equal? I also have a need for pre-made beats. Nothing fancy, I just do not want to program my own, although editing beats would be nice. All the demos I have tried with pre-made beats are more oriented toward dance/beat music. Would Sony Acid Music Studio 7, which only costs $60, do the trick? I want a good selection of rock beats.

Atm I use Acid Pro Music Studio 5.0 and IME, no, they aren't all equal; but all should cover what is needed for your application.

Sony also has a multitude of sample CD's ( beats, instrument samples, sound effects, etc.), in many different styles, that you can use with Acid. There are also countless 3rd party sample CD's.

As far as rock beats, it shouldn't be, ( not sure what samples are included in the version your refering to) too hard to create those in Acid w/o any need of extra sample CD's; and it's even easier if you have a midi controller.
