What is the difference between two magnets and single magnet p bass pickups

Ok ok in all seriousness,changing the number and type of magnets (and or strength (guass)) will affect how frequencies interact with the coil and alter the output signal. It’s quite impossible to generalize an answer for you that has any real meaning.

Do you mean humbucker v. single coil, or number of exposed magnets. If it’s the latter then the answer is one.

The two magnet / two coil P pickup is a humbucker. The original single coil / single magnet P pickup is not a humbucker. If that's the question OP was really asking?
I have an Ibanez bass that someone had put cts pots and did some really kookie looking wiring these are the pickups that came out of it but I have another set that instead of the two magnets the pickups have one flat magnet on the bottom instead of one on each side of the poles
Oh, ok, not so much difference in that case. Probably makes some small difference to the sound somehow, not sure.

The picture the OP shows with the two magnets against 4 pole pieces is NOT a humbucker (well, of course the two halves together make a humbucker - but I mean each half by itself appears to only have one coil with two magnets).
So I think the OP is asking what's the difference between having two magnets on either side of the pole pieces vs the ones that have a single bar magnet directly under the pole pieces. Both of those styles, of course, are completely different from the individual alnico magnet pole pieces of the original style Fender pups.
I drew a picture of what I mean. I think the picture the OP showed is a single coil with two magnets like in the picture I drew. I don't even know if anyone makes a single coil with one magnet like I drew but I think I've seen them before. Personally I dislike all these type of pickups and much prefer the individual alnico magnet pole pieces with no bar magnet at all.

Correct.....I put the single magnet in...far right and it seemed like I have some sort of treble bleed above 7/8 volume...with the dual magnet center pic everything is much warmer and I have to really crank the tone to get any highs
Time for a new cab?
