What is this bass???

i was in a music store the other day and i saw a bass id never seen before it was sunburs with a gold pickguard, like vintage fender basses, and the body looked similar to a jazz bass. with two sets of pickups with 5 pole peices. the controls were two knobs a 3 (or 5) way switch and two on/off switches. on the head stock was FENDER, made in USA but no model name i have no idea what it was and i dont have a picture

Really that's kinda like......I saw this car in the parking lot, it had four wheels and a steering wheel. It was red and looked kinda like a Honda or a BMW but different, maybe more like a jeep. I don't know, can you tell me what it was? Sheesh
