What is this supposed to be?

This is so petty. Everyone making fun of a pretty cool, unique looking instrument. Yeah, the seller is delusional asking that much for it (if I wanted something contemporary I'd get a Wishbass), yet nonetheless it doesn't warrant the pathetic mocking and bashing. TB, grow up.

Ok I'll grant that it's "bass art" and I appreciate the really nice, creative and artistic impression of a bass. But the reality is that this creation has no chance whatsoever of being more than a marginally functional "bass". It is simply, utterly incapable of staying in tune, even for one complete song, due to the metal neck. It's a fundamental and 100% fatal flaw that can't be corrected.

If you ever get your hands on an old '80's Kramer Duke bass with its hybrid aluminum/maple neck, you'll find that your left hand warms the neck enough in just seconds, to make it go audibly sharp. The cooler the room, the worse the problem too. The Kramer Duke was a cool-looking, though horrible little bass, as it was impossible to keep in tune for any appreciable length of time unless we were playing outdoors during the summer on a day when it was 98.6 degrees. That's the only way any metal neck will stay in tune for longer than a few bars.

I see what you got here
Okay so some guy who knows how to spot weld took the ornate railing off his neighbor’s side porch stairs, welded it to a metal neck and used two lamp shade knobs for his volume and tone pots. He ripped the electronics and some hardware out of some $30.00 bass which evidently didn’t have a bridge he bought on ebay, so he made his own out of a set pin he bought from alibaba.com.

Then he went to Home Depot and took a class about angles and for free they through in how to string a bass and Oh and no doubt someone there told him the higher the strings are off the neck the better it will play he wants how much for it?

A dysfunctional head angle with string "posts" instead of "trees". Art conquers function. It can be fixed by loosening the big artsy phillips head screws and rotating the headstock to a sane position.

The headstock used to be rotated, but the thread got stripped. This is a repair and not the original design. Not a very good repair, so the bass should be devalued by at leas 98%.

So I stated I liked it earlier in the thread. That was from my phone. Now I like the idea, but the general state of the welding is really bad. I don't mind it as a concept, though.

Regarding the price, maybe he wants to keep it for less than 3500. More power to him.

When someone puts something like this up on eBay with a ridiculous asking price, he is asking to be made fun of. Lighten up, willya?

This is the same scam used by so called "modern art" folks. They would have you believe that there creation is "deep" and " cutting edge" and that it justifies some ridiculous price tag. Well , good luck with all of that
