What is this?

A friend gave me this bass to pass on to my musician son. I’d like to know exactly what kind of bass this is and if it needs any original parts reinstalled on it. I’m not a bass player so I need some TLC to get me through this.

This looks like a Fender Jazz Bass with the PJ pickup configuration with fender select pickups by EMG. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find specific information on this bass. None of what I know seems to line up. The only Fender bass that I know of labeled "Jazz bass" with a PJ pickup configuration is the Fender Jazz Bass Special. The black neck normally notes those. The other guess would be a fender performer P bass ... those have a PJ pickup configuration. However, none of them seem to fit the bill completely. Possibly a version of the Fender PB standard precision bass? I apologize I couldn't be more help.

My guess would be either a parts bass, or a no-name, with a Fender decal.

The headstock shape is not of a Fender bass, it looks like.
Kinda looks like the 70s Stratocaster headstock shape actually. Either way I think it is a no-name with a Fender decal.

Definitely not a fender neck. It looks like it has a volute. Strat guitar headstock
The strings are off center on the neck .
The tuners are mounted in the wrong place on the headstock
It doesn’t look like a fender body either. The forearm contour looks off in the photo
It could use a couple of “adjustments “
