why is this better than something like an El whappo? and why have an active bass cab when an active PA cab will give you similar results?

Well, I recall Tom B. played through those and was impressed by the tone, if not the weight.

If you are asking why have an active bass cab, then you must have been sleeping in a remote grassy dell while Bergantino IP amps flourished in TB-land.

"Better" is subjective anyway. I can look at the ISP's and see half a dozen things about them that are different from an El Whappo, and that's without even hearing them. Different means it's almost certainly "better" by somebody's standards.

I recommend you read up on the Berg IP's.

I remember reading a bit into the bergs, but I think I came to the conclusion (if memory serves me right, I have been drinking) that they were smaller, 1x12s or something, and therefor didn't quite group them with this ISP, which claims to have enough tone and volume(which, for two grand and 1000 watts, I don't doubt) that "the Bass Vector speaker cabinet achieves a balance of depth, impact, and definition that makes 4x10's sound lifeless by comparison."

as a 410 guy, I can say that while I can see how a two/three way system would provide more definition, but frankly, i'm offended!
