What is your favorite all-around string, and why?

DR Fat Beams I haven’t found a bass I don’t like them on and I have them on every bass that isn’t short scale or double ball end, with one exception for flats which are chromes! Even the Rickenbacker. I don’t know exactly what it is that I love about them to put my finger on one thing, they feel perfect for me. They also seem to play to whatever the basses strengths are if it’s a darker sounding bass, less muddy or clanky sounding bass, less shrill. I guess accentuates the lows and highs with losing definition and still has good midrange all while retaining what that specific bass has to over tone wise . I find it funny they were Marcus Millers signature strings because I play in another world than he does, they are great for anything though

Since a lot of string threads tend to turn into folks sharing their favorites, I thought I would start a thread where that is the express purpose of the thread. That, and I know with COVID that some of you have mentioned you have tried some new stuff in your off time, and so perhaps your preferences have changed. Also, I realize this has been done before, but I haven't seen it recently so just thought I would start it again.

For the most part, my favorite all-arounder has been Daddario nickel XLs. They are not necessarily the best at everything, but for me, they have been adequate for most things, are very consistent and tend to wear well. Given that, though, I am currently back with some flats and trying the GHS Precisions, the 95's. What about you, what is your favorite all arounder? If it is more than one, that's cool too - please, if you could, briefly share why. Thanks for indulging me on a slow day. :)

DR SUNBEAMS. They play great, they sound great for any style. Broken in, they get very warm but still retain snap when you need it.
For flats, Labella low tension flexible flats.

Cobalt Flats have been my go-to for about 2 years now. My band tunes down half a step to accommodate the songs we perform, so they're pretty rubbery tension-wise on my Player Series Jazz 5, but just about perfect on my Warwick Streamer. Lotta people here praising them so I grabbed a set and fell in love.

I am tempted to try the TI Jazz Flats too, but man are they pricey. I wish it were possible for strings to perpetually keep that brand new "zing" to the tone, though.
