My goodness, I was so happy when my kids made it to school, and out of daycare!
That I'm no longer able to handle long scale basses. A lot less available used in short scale. At least around here.
Plus it doesn't hurt that my current inexpensive bass is now so modded that any deficiencies are the player, not the instrument.

I haven't really played fallout since I got my ric in Christmas. Lol I recently bought the monopoly set from gamestop.
Life in general has been a GAS killer. There is always some new bill to pay or something to fix. Homes and cars need to be maintained.
Fortunately, my Lakland DJ5 is exactly what I wanted in a bass. I have amps that meet my needs at home and at church so I am set. My Peavey Forums do the modern thing when I want that modern sound, so after decades, I am set.
To be honest, the GAS I have been battling for fifty years is pocket knife collecting, and quality pocket knives can easily cost as much as a decent bass. I have come to realize that I can satisfy myself with bass gear but I ALWAYS WANT ONE MORE KNIFE!

Size of my apartment and frequency of getting to really play. I hate having unused gear. I also hate clutter. I tend to lean toward minimal things. If I can't imagine having more stuff in my space or using the new stuff I get, it makes it hard for me to want more stuff.
Limited space and time. It doesn't really kill the GAS but it checks it significantly. Maybe I would feel differently if I flipped gear, but I tend to keep pretty much everything I buy.
What cures my GAS? Lack of funds....

I ran out of gas and don't plan on refilling the tank, I just want to play and enjoy what I have left...
I have been playing a little. I kind of want to wait for the dlc before i beat it. Im about halfway through the institute missions.
If you just leave a bowl of food out, they can come nibble on it whenever they get hungry throughout the day.
I don't give myself much to spend. About all I can do is strings and the occasional part, like the Q-filters I've added to my passive basses. I can look but I won't be buying more instruments.

For me, it never dies. There will always be something to want, something to try.
GAS is a condition of the mind, not caused by any material object.
I have realized that I will always have GAS. With that realization, I have decided that I just need to accept that it will always be there, and be okay with it.
Besides, I have a sweet arsenal. So while there will always be something to want, I am still thrilled with what I have and I am thankful to have them.
