Now that it appears that my life as a semi-pro bass player is over, it has taken some time, but I've reached my calling. The French have a word for it: Flaneur. My preferred definition, thanks mr wiki:

"Traditionally depicted as male, a flâneur is an ambivalent figure of urban affluence and modernity, representing the ability to wander detached from society, for an entertainment from the observation of the urban life."

With less pomposity: I like to walk and look at things. At home, I walk about 4 miles a day. When I'm in New York City (where I am right at this moment) I'll walk 15-20 miles, easy. It's a pleasant life, and yes I know I am incredibly lucky to be able to live it.

Gene Simmons was once asked what he would choose if he could have as much as he wanted: money, power, or sex. He correctly said "money, because if you have that you can get the other two". So yeah, I want money. Money, money, money. I want a mountain of money so huge that I have to build a spaceship shaped like my phallus to see it all. This is the American Dream of the 21st century.

(full disclosure: I voted for peace of mind)

That was in an interview with Gene in Bass Player, wasn't it? I recall all sorts of eye-popping comments from him in that. 👿
