One of my Fender jazz basses, both pickups dimed, tone rolled off to somewhere between halfway and wherever it feels right.
As for amps I ran a Carvin combo for years but just switched to an Ampeg portaflex... The jury is still out on which cab I will pair it with...

Simply put I guess, my sound is me playing whatever bass through whatever amp. I generally sound like me.

More specifically, a "modern" bass (Roscoe right now) with active electronics - most likely Bartolini - run through a clean DI (Radial JDI) and a "modern" (Genz Benz right now) amp for gigs that require an amp.

Warwick corvette std both pickups on Blend and Tone pots at half, Thru a cranked Kustom DE300 hd. Bass at 6, mids at 10, highs at 0.

Sounds amazing, somewhere between an angry rottweiler and a nuclear bomb!
