I'm a 4 strings fretted basses player. Rosewood Neck on my Practicing Bass (Eko MM 300, a Chinese Copy of a Sting Ray made by the Italian brand) and Maple on my best one (American Standard Precision 2008, bought new in 2011).
Besides, I do play mainly with picks but I like fingerstyle too.
Wish I could slap better! :bawl:

4 string fretted - Fender Precision
5 string fretted - Fender Jazz
6 string fretted - Ibanez SR506

4 string upright bass - Shen SB-90
5 string electric upright bass - NS Design NXT

About 6 weeks ago, I dropped SD Quarterpounds and an Audere 3 band drop-in preamp in my 5 string J bass (MIM). It is HOT, and the sound just kills, especially through my GK MB212 - serious tone and volume. Pics to come. Now I just need that fretless neck for it, and I'll be in 7th heaven. This bass will make an awesome fretless jazz, IMHO, and it would be the perfect addition to my stable.

Ok... so I lied. This jazz bass is so great as a fretted bass (the tones, the response, the playability, etc.), that I'm keeping it as-is. I'll just have to start another fretless quest. Darn the luck. :D Hmm... maybe I can build a fretless twin to this one...?

4 string fretted Kramer D-1 disciple with DR Neons.
4 string Frettes Tanglewood Bassmaster Funk - stained mahogany.
4 string fretted Vintage EST96 ( Backup backup - being repainted by myself.
Soon to have a Fleabass Model 32 wild one for some fun. (Hopefully it's a good one )

I play only 4 string fretted.

4 string fretted: Fender Hwy 1 Jazz
4 string fretted: Squier '51 P
4 string fretless: Squier Jazz

I've become a big fan of Squier's products in the past year. Very big bang for the buck.
