DR Low-rider Extra Heavy 50-110 strings.

Tight on your bass, dark and heavy through an amp, and for some reason I just play faster and more consistant with them. Feels liek my pick (yes, sorry fingerstyle players) reacts better to them and i can pick more consistantly. Fingerstyle just feels like Im playing a suspension bridge.

-Steel roundwounds for my fretted basses. The best I've tried are DR Hi-Beams but they're very hard to find where I live and it's expensive to order them through the Net. The best ones I can find here are LaBella Hard Rockin' Steels. I also like them.

-Flatwounds for my fretless. Well, frankly I don't know so much about flatwounds. When I got my fretless I HAD to order a set through juststrings.com (flatwounds are impossible to find here) and I chose Rotosounds. I like them, but those are the only flats I've tried, so I don't know about others.

About gauges, I prefer 045-130 sets, but 128s are easier to find here.

After having exclusively used Bass Boomers for 5 years, I am a recent convert to DR lo-riders. Love that phat slap tone!!!!! One of my idols is MM so Fat Beams are next on the tryout list.

I use the following;

MIM Pbass special with Nordstrand P/U's-Fender 7250L's

MIM fretless jazz with DiMarzio Model J's-Fender 7150L's

MIM fretted jazz with DiMarzio ultrajazz-TI JF344, although these will probably be changed soon to Fender rounds. Just not sure yet i they'll be the 7150's, or 7250's. Probably the superbass.

Gotta go with the Dean Markley's. Blue Steel Cryogenics mediums. The longest lasting string Ive ever played. Nice growl that doesnt fade easily. Of course the Rotosounds Swing Bass are cool too but only if I can't get the Blues. They're worth the $$.

I'm going to go with Fender 7150 strings on my fretted jazz. I love them on my fretless jazz! Not too bright, but smoth feelin, and punchy.

I like the Fender rounds on my other basses. Not expensive, good quality, and sound really nice IMHO.

i use Roto rounds 50 - 110 on my 4 string,
roto rounds 45 - 130 on my 5 (the sound is totally awesome - zingy, growling and punchy)
D'addario ground wounds on my EUB and F/less (smooth, with an edge)

The two basses I'm using most often these days are the L2000 and the Jazz.

RotoSound Funk Master FM66 stainless steel roundwounds. (30,50,70,90)

I could double thumb all night and can go from midrange burp to popping by simply adjusting playing position and velocity.

That makes things fun! Having a great bass, strings, and amp mean nothing if you don't have the means to play in a way that creates your sound.
