What kind of strings do you use?

Rotosound Swing Bass Roundwounds are really the strings for me. Not too bright and with a sweet mid low kinda sound that works wonders for both my '62 reissue jazz and my fretless jazz.

My Yamaha is fitted with the fattest gauged black nylon strings Rotosound has and is tuned CFBbEb. That's greasiest sound I've ever found. Of course, you really gotta watch your right hand attack with this one or you'll send your strings flying out of the nut.

Oh, and obviously, my Ashbory has silicon strings whether I want it to or not.

On my Fender P-Bass - Rotosound Rotobass Nickel roundwound. .040-.060-.080-100

On my Godin A5 fretless - It's new so I still have the OEM strings. Bought a set of Rotosound Tru Bass flat nylon wraps but after looking at the gauges, I decided they are too big. (.065 - .075 - 100 - 115 - 135) I never put them on.

I'm going to try LaBella flat nylon wraps
.060, .070, .097, .115, .125.

Anyone want to buy the Rotosounds?

Dean Markley NickelSteel CL on my Geddy Lee bass, good bass, growl and clarity.
Ernie Ball Slinky on my Warmoth Fretless P-bass, good bottom, growly and clarity.

i have used GHS Boomers, sucky sound. Tested D'Addario XL160 Nickels, not my sound, mellow bass and too bright sounding.

Elixirs Medium long scale polyweb on the Squire P- bass sounded aweful so switched to tested and true Ernie Ball Custom Roundwound and they sound great

I haven't bought strings in so long.

Upon long term testing of what I have now.

The D'addario steels stay bright and clean sounding a very long time. The DR nickles, get muddy, but are still usable.

And my Yammy has some nickles from the 80's on it, and they sound deader than something thats very dead.
