What kind of strings do you use?

I use Snake Oils (Link Removed) on my #1 bass, a DiPinto Galaxie...the 40-60-80-100 gauge. IIRC, they are labeled as the "CL" gauge. I use Snake Oils on my guitars also. Great sound, long life, great customer service from Dean.

Im using DR and D'Addario strings at the moment ...I love the bright pingy sound of the D'Addarios and the crispness and clarity of the DR's ......now if only I could find a balance between them!!

It depends on the bass for me;

I have roundwounds on my custom Fender fretted by Ernieball or Rotosound

I have Fender flatwounds on my custom Fender fretless

And I use nylons on my Ovation Celebrity acoustic/electric.

Strings that is, I love pure nickel round wounds, and nickel plated round wounds. Whats yours?

I use dr marcus miller fat beams on my hand made bass. I've tried a few differnent types in my short time of playing and these r the 1s 4 me!!!! Elixer strings r good too but i like drs better.

1 - D'Addario Pro Steel ESP 165-5 (045-135) - Balanced top to bottom, tight, very nice growl.

2 - SIT Power steel (045-125) - Growly, sounds very good.

Elixir Polywebs for years, and up until then I had tried them all. Nothing comes close for consistency of tone and great feel.

Oh and I have D'addario Chrome flats on my P right now, but am going to try out LaBella or Thomastik-Infeld next, because I'm pretty new to the flatwound realm.

I used Roto's for 20 years, and about a year ago, I found DR Highbeams, Love Em. Won't change back ever. DR Highbeams are more flexible, and sound better, longer. And they don't seem to be as bad at eating the frets either. I would like a suggestion on Acoustic hollow body strings though, anybody got a brand for me??

Right now I have some d'addario roundwounds (50-105) but I really want to get some DR Black Beauties (50-110) for the color, tighter E (than I have right now), and the long life they have! I actually had the bottom 4 of a 5 string set of BBs on my bass until I decided to retune it and figured I'd have to readjust everything (I had to), so I got the cheaper d'addarios.

i use Rotosound Swing 66's RN 66LD strings. 45-105, nickel on steel, roundwound. i've used them for 20 years, and i love them, but i'm gonna try those DR highbeams. Fender Jazz/ rosewood.

I'm using Rotosound flatwounds right now. I prefer flats over roundwounds. To me, they are less noisy. I've used just about every kind they've made in the past 17 years of playing. Most of the time I usually bought what was the cheapest. I really do not have a "brand," just a type.

I'm a big fan of a light gauge roundwound on a round core such as the DR Hi-Beams, Sun Beams, and Fat Beams.
