Ever since I first tried Rotosound stainless steel roundwounds I (and my wallet) fell in love and have been using them (45-65-80-105) ever since on my Squier Affinity P bass, and intend to replace those that came on my new Yamaha RBX370A with them too.

DR's all the way. Thier punchy, they last forever, and they dont break. They're the best in my book.
Rotosound Jazz flats on my 4-string (will never go back now) and still figuring out what to use on my 5-string I got over the summer. Been using Dean Markley Blue Steel Nickel roundwounds.
Tomastik-Infeld jazz flats for my Carvin 6 string, D'Addario helicore hybrids for my upright. Do yourself a favor and get the best. TI's are the best.
On my cheap musicyo 'Tobias' 5:
Rotosound Swingbass - ok
Dean Markley Blue Steel - ok
Carvin Stainless - 'peg end' of string is too large in diameter to fit into the peg's hole, otherwise liked them
DR Highbeams - loved them, but after removing and cleaning strings to refresh their brilliance, the B string was toast. The string beacme floppy and rattled, as if the windings lost integrity
MusicYo strings: when I first got this bass it had 'musicyo' strings on it. Cheap, but fabulous strings. If they still sold them, I'd be buying them. Decent tone, string life, and the gauge was juuuuuust right.
On my Tune ZiIII 6:
D'Addario XL - dig these. I have a set that has been on this bass for quite awhile. The brilliance is lost, but the bass is inherently bright-sounding anyway. I use the neck pickup and get a yummy thumpy Precision-like sound.
All are med gauge roundwounds that respond acceptably to fingerstyle, slap/pop and pick playing.

DRS ALL TTHE WAY!! I have tried them all and was braking them all, drs were the only ones that could handle the slap. And there punchy too!!
i dont have any favorites when it comes to strings, but i just put SIT Power Wounds on my Flea Bass and Smith Burners on my Stingray and so far they both sound and feel awesome...i just hope they last long.
I bought a set of Carvin SS strings 40-100 I like the sound on my Jazz bass, but they seem to be a harder string on my fingers.I was using Dean Markley Blue Steel lights 45- 100 but they got too expensive Anyone else try the Carvin SS?
I use SIT rock bright stainless steel strings. SIT last forever and there really tight. I also like DR high beams but I find them a little floppy some times. The strings I found most disappointing were Dean Markley blue steel they seem to die real fast like one gig and there toasted.
undefinedAt the moment I have D'Addario nickel roundwounds on my Polaris Custom (I'm using a Les Claypool type setup with two G's and two A's), some junk Elixers on my Dean Acoustic Performance Bass (I'm just ordered some D'Addario Flatwounds to replace those), Dean Markley Flatwounds on my Rogue Fretless 4, and I have the stock strings from my Rogue on my Cort Action bass because I'm selling it and it's loaned out to a friend right now anyways. Personally, I really like the sound of flatwounds, you just have to remember to play them for a few days before you let anyone else listen to them, and once you have them broke in a bit, they'll last for years. The only reason I really keep roundwounds on my Polaris is because you just can't get that funkish sound out of flatwounds very well. So there's my opinion.
