My preference is GHS Boomers but I play professionally and I change them ~5 nights of play and/or when they start showing the first signs of deadening...Because I go through strings so much, I prefer GHS Boomers but will often opt to buy whatever is on Sale

I do use flats on fretless and usually never change those

I've got some Cobalt Power Slinkys (Slinkies? Slinkii?) on my Warwick Rockbass since I tend to tune down to C standard.
I'm probably gonna try some groundwounds when I eventually get my hands on a fretless.

Flats feel good but it is always easier to take frequencies away than to add them. You can more easily approximate the sound of flats with rounds than vice versa.

I used to use Elixir, but they left some marks and when I tried Ernie I loved the tone. I've tried other strings GHS, D'addario, Fender... but nothing like Ernie ball

Well, since I first voted, things have changed-
Now, I use Dunlop Super Bright Nickels, E B Cobalt Flats, Ken Smith Compressors, T I Jazz Flats, GHS Compression Wounds, LaBella Copper White Nylon Tapes, and T I Super Alloy Rounds, all on different basses: some sets work much better than the others on a particular bass.
Lots of other sets in packages, most prev installed, then removed.

I cannot take part in the poll-- there is no "all of the above" choices. I like Roto RS66LD rounds on my Jazz Bass, RS77LD flats on my P, and the Roto tape wounds on the fretless Jazz-- various other strings for various other basses. Man shall not live by flatwounds alone . . .

Currently shopping around for strings, but always roundwound. Most recent set is DR Black Beauties, and so far, I love them so much I want to buy them a car.

My how things changs. About 4 months ago, I posted that I use ProSteels on everything. I am a convert to flats now. TI Flats are my favorite and Sadowski black label flats are a close 2nd.

In the 70s & 80s, I was all about rotosound round wounds, in the 90s & early 00s, daddairo ground wounds, since them Ti (or other) flats. Will agree with Walbodiddy on
