Yes - that's precisely where my comments come from. That color looks noting like color of the silks I've had on Progressives. Mine were brown, leaning towards a dark tan, not at all burgundy or red.

Yes - that's precisely where my comments come from. That color looks noting like color of the silks I've had on Progressives. Mine were brown, leaning towards a dark tan, not at all burgundy or red.
And here's the pic of the exposed core on the Progressives I had on my Yamaha. As far as I know, the Progressives were the only strings that ever came with exposed cores both on E and B.
Those look like Rotosound swing bass to me. The old ones didn’t have silk on the ball end.

Yes, the old ones from the 80's would have. The latest ones only have red silk at the tuner end. Also, Boomers never came with exposed cores.
Has Rotosound ever used exposed cores (E and B) or silver ball ends (instead of brass) on any of their Swingbass lines?

The red is much more pronounced too. I think even with that lighting, it would be.
What about the winding lengths? I ask because all of the Roto strings I've seen in pics had the silks line up evenly across, meaning all four strings had the same winding lengths (ball end to silk). With the GHS Progressives, only the E and the B were available with 36.5" winding length while all the rest were always 38", just like the ones seen in the OP's pic.
Not sure but depending on the distance between the pegs of each individual there would most likely be some variance.
That's exactly my point. That's my Yamaha with GHS Progressives.
The fact there is a difference of 1.5" in winding length between B?E (36.5") and the other three (38"), just like the ones in the OP's pic, is according to the specs for the Progressives, not for Rotosound Swingbass.
With the burgundy silks, they may be GHS Progressives. As @michael_t said, yes, I have been a user of Progressives since they were the "new" string in the early 90's. I complained to my local store about Boomers dying on me, and the owner said that GHS had just introduced a new formula of strings. I bought a set, and they have been on my Rickenbacker 4002 (yes, "2," not "1" or "3") ever since. I was the original "balanced tension" guy, custom ordering 45-60-80-105 singles before anybody else thought about it. But I could tell the difference in feel. One exception: when GHS quit production due to the pandemic, I tried other sets, then sought out Progressives OEM singles in my preferred guages to hoard unless and until GHS starts making them again.
