What options for "octave up" are there?

Other than the EH POG pedals, what options are there to get a clean "octave up" for a bass guitar?

(pedals that provide the dry signal plus one octave up at the same time)

Boss PS-2 and PS-3, EHX Pog and Micro Pog, and a Digitech Whammy 4. Thats off the top of my head. I know there are plenty more out there.

I use a Digitech Whammy largely for this reason. Youll find the octave up to be a little glitchy (See "My Iron Lung" - Yes its a guitar part using the effect, but the same glitchy breakup exists for basses using it). Its up to you to decide whetheror not you like that, i personally do. For a more natural sounding octave, the POG and PS-2/3 are good options. If moneys less of a factor, you could go for the Eventide Pitchfactor.

The EBS is actually only an octave down pedal.

I call it "the guitar". Doesn't even need batteries. And comes with two extra strings!

i'm a big fan of the pitch shifting in the line6 m9.

The Akai Uni Bass does this if you are lucky enough to find one, it has the most "natural" sound. Also many multi effects units have pitch shifters and harmonizers that can do many of those functions. .

Get an 8 string bass, that'll certainly give you that upper octave effect. While I am very happy with the lower octave effect on my EHX Bass Synth, the upper effect does not come out very loud at all.

Like John Davis says, the pitch shifting on the M9 is great. Also, I've been using the EHX Ring Thing for my octave up and octave down needs.

I use a Boss PS-5. I like it. It will do a whole lot of things, but you can do octave up solo or blend dry and octave up.

I just got a micro POG in the post today, the upper octave is alright for adding a bit of shimmer and shine but my god it's weedy. Just as bad as the Whammy, really.

I haven't heard a digital octave up that doesn't make a bass guitar sound really thin. I haven't tried the PitchFactor, but I would be surprised if it has any grunt on bass.
