Consider then Joe P, Tedintheshed, davidmwilson, Toasted, or Tecx. These guys (recently anyway) tend to be pretty conservative with how they post around here, but they are all some of the smartest, most experienced guys on here. How long did it take these guys to quit being "n00bs"? Just because someone posts a lot doesn't mean they know anything. Like me for example. ;-D

So you saying "1000 posts in my book before you're not a n00b anymore" is like me saying "You have to be named SpankyPants before you're not a n00b in my book."

I only post when I have something helpful to add to the thread...or when I'm bored and want to cause trouble.

Being an n00b/EC has little to do with how many posts you have, or how long you've been hanging around. It has more to do with what kinds of dumb questions you ask. ;)

Wow......

So your saying that how people view experience level is up do your or anyone else's whim? That i will not be respected and recognized as a good bassplayer until im a Mod, ive been on for 5 years, etc.?

I, for one, feel that that the views of __________, ___________, and _________ are very wrong. You guys seem to think that just because youve been on here longer means that your opinion on any given topic is more respected than mine....

Somebody mentioned that when you stop asking stupid questions you stop being a noob. Does asking you guys to quit insulting other peoples intelligence count???

Am i wrong??....maybe....but the first 10 posts of every new thread slamming somebody's experience level cant be right.

So, noob-callers........get over yourselves and just point the guy towards search, close the thing, and move on.....

I have been around a few months, dont start threads unless its been searched and not beaten to death in something else, said my peace on the "Is it wrong.." thread, already gotten a slap on the wrist, and only offer my opinion unless its needed...

Now,....Id like to remove the noob title from myself......and go back to GASing on the pedalboard thread....

Just some thoughts....,

FWIW I agree for the most part.

People need to start reporting posts to the actual moderators or (here is a novel idea) post a link ot 2 to the actual threads that they think cover the question. In the time it takes to rough up a n00b, one can easily (considering the l33t skillz some must have) do the search and post a quick result...

or even better... IGNORE IT!

So yeah, that's some more thoughts.

And Bassplayer_479, I'm not quite sure what you're trying to do. I don't think that anyone has called you a noob, so why are you being so defensive? And aren't people entitled to having their own opinions? And if so, why let it bother you? It's some guy living 1000+ miles away from you posting on a bass forum. As Toasted was saying in another post:

So if I get tired of your "finger pointing without pointing the finger", I can ignore it or leave. Isn't it just as wrong to call "Sp*nkyp*ants" a n00b-caller? Especially if it was serious, unlike how I was joking with moogboy? Name-calling is name-calling, man. Even if you just use an oblique (yet extremely obvious) reference to a person rather than using their forum handle.

I don't think that anyone on this board is particularly mean-spirited, but we all have our bad days. And sometimes one's sense of humor doesn't come across well over the internet I suppose, but I honestly think that you seem to have taken this "n00b" joke a bit too seriously.

The point is to just chill out, have fun, and don't take yourself so seriously. :D We're like a dysfunctional family here, but for the most part, we're all friends. Just follow the rules and enjoy TB as the friendly exchange of information that it is.

Ease up there, cowboy. :) There's a level of good-natured sarcasm among the regulars that can be easily misinterpreted as being snobbish or even mean.

As far as respect, it has nothing to do with how long anyone has been a TB member. If your opinion is based on facts, experience, and/or logic then it's just as valid as anyone else's. There certianly are regulars in this forum who have proven over and over again to be experienced, knowledeable, and logical. However, if your opinion differs based on your own knowledge or experience, no one is going to beat you up over it.

As for the "stupid question" comment, it was not directed at anyone in particular and was intended to be semi-funny (notice the ;) at the end of the statement).

Please resume your regularly scheduled GAS :D
