What Power Amp is in your Rack Rig??

Hi-

I use a Crown Macrotech 5002 VZ. Nothing like it. Class A power with unbelievable headroom, sensitivity, built in compression, definition and clarity. Will drive many cabinets on each side and goes down to 2 ohms.

I grabbed a Carvin DCM2000L recently. A shallow rack depth, light weight, and light price added up to a win for me. Plus I had an older DCM1500 amp and B1500 head which were workhorses and never gave me any problems, so I wasn't too concerned about Carvin reliability.

It could produce the wattage I needed in each channel to be able to run a crossover in my rig. It was also a scratch and dent item that I picked up for about the same price as my RBI.

PLX1804. I won't lie, I bought it because it was a great deal, and it's (relatively) light. Ebay pricing - rebate + 6-year warranty = no-brainer. My only wish is that the input was more sensitive (lower voltage?). I have to boost my signal a bit to get good output at the power amp.

Crest CA6 -- Heavy, pure, oceanic power. It's at least 9 years old, probably older. I got it used for ~$480 from a retiring ebay DJ. It has more than enough power to make these cabs moan!

Crown Macrotech 1200 running bridged into either 8 or 4 ohms. This amp's been great and I bought it off of E-Bay about 5 years ago excellent sound with lots of headroom a little heavy but not bad for 1200watts.

I use a Mackie 1400i, got this for less than two bills and is used to drive two Carvin BRX210 cabs, Great amp.

Generally use two Avatar 410 Neo 4 ohm cabs. Also use it with just one channel running an Eden 1015 8 ohm cab, modified with an Eminence 3015LF, an Eminence Beta 10 co-axial with a 1in. thread on Piezo driver. Both setups sound wonderfull to my ear. I'm very satisfied with the rig I own, for the first time in my life.

QSC PLX2402. Plenty of power, and IMO they'll all basically sound the same so don't worry about that too much. The flexibility of my QSC is nice to have and the reliability is great. I can't see anyone going wrong with QSC.

Carvin DCM2000L. Cheap, light, solid, lots of power. Zero personality, but that's fine.
