What Rack Pre's are you currently running?

I currently have the Ampeg SVP Pro and a Yamaha PB-1 into a Crown XTi-2000. I tell ya, the Yamaha is freakin' impressive as all hell! I used it last night during practice and it sounded beautiful. It had balls with just a tiny amount of dirt but EXTREMELY responsive. It's a great pre! The SVP Pro? It sounds like Ampeg of course but it's kinda difficult to get a straight, clean tone. I love the o.d. I get out of it but it's noisey as all hell and I think I'm having some electrical problems with it. For versatility and clean, chunky tone the Yamaha PB-1 is absolutley outstanding... and I only paid $60 for it!

Alembic F-1X. I have an Eden Navigator as a backup. I also recently snagged a Hughes and Kettner BATT half rack pre that is being repaired that I'm excited to try out.

Most of my actual EQing is done via the three band EQ on my Audere/Norstrand equipped Jazz. Ever since I made the upgrade on the Jazz, I find myself somewhat less particular about what I play through.

Using a BBE BMax into a QSC RMX 2450 power amp.

I love the sound I get out of this thing. The EQ is weird and takes some getting used too, but once you get the hang of it can produce alot of different tones. I'm very happy with the results I get from this preamp. No desirre to move on to anything else except for a lighter PLX 1804 power amp.

I have 2 Rack set ups that I've been using these days. One has a Sansamp RBI that I got used for 150.00 which I like but find a little anemic in the bottom end so I use a BBE 482i with it into a QSC RMX850 and it's pretty awesome sounding. I really like he dirt I can get with the RBI but without the 482i it's just doesn't slam enough for my liking.

The other set up is a BBE BMax I got for 220.00 of Ebay into a Peavey 900 and that's definitely a winner. Took a little time to find my sound with the EQ but I'm really digging it a lot. I'm getting my Stewart 1.2 serviced at the moment so I'm try to figure which set up I'll run into the Stewart.

trusty Kern IP777, and my sonic ginzu the aguilar 680.

course, i've also used my Summit Audio tube ID / Feq-50 combo for a few gigs now, and dang, like sonically assaulting butter. ok, that makes no sense, but "assaulting" and "butter" are coming to mind, and i cant seem to negotiate how they'd sit in a sentence. bah...

Tom, is that a Markbass Studio Pre two units up from the Berg cab? If so, what do you think of it?

I have to tell you, as much as I'd like to have a stack of stuff like that, I have to think that sometimes you must feel like the dog who got two bones, couldn't decide which one he wanted, and dropped dead from the stress of it all. Hell, I feel that way now! On the other hand, if you're going to die, it's probably one of the more fun ways ;)

Never had the pleasure of trying one out. Never was much of a preamp guy so that may be why. I'd almost be afraid to get one now, though. 30 year old amps can get a little cranky (I know...I own a couple).

I am using this Kern BP-777. I absolutely love this thing. I emailed Les Ploppa to inquire about the BP vs. the IP and he explained that the BP-777 was the prototype to the IP. Only about 15 were ever made.

Anyone else have one?

My main setup is a Tech 21 RPM (sometimes coupled with a Behringer BDI21 pedal, aka SansAmp BDDI knock-off pedal) for a poor man's RBI/RPM tone. Sounds incredible, but the Behringer will be replaced with the real deal (RBI) soon.
