what should I put in the last space on my rack?

Got one space left on my head rack case, figured I'd refer to the great minds on talk bass.

I have a 6 space rack case.
2 spaces are my Ampeg Svt-7 pro, one is my rack tuner, one is my wireless, one is my power conditioner. I also run a 3 pedal board with an od, chorus, and 7 band eq pedals on the fx loop.

I want something more useful than a simple cosmetic space cover... I was contemplating a sonic maximizer but I don't know how effective it would be with the eq pedal doing pretty much the same thing.

Give me food for thought to roll around :)

How about a sliding shelf. Then you got someplace to put your cocktails, keys, wallet...ipad.....seriously, you've got a nice rig. You don't need a hokey sonic maximizer. Blank it off and save your back dragging the additional weight.

Good call, I was thinking he had a comp on his pedal board then realized he is using an OD pedal. I would go comp of a fan. Unless the majority of your dates are outdoors in the middle of a nasty heat, I don't know that you'll see a big advantage protection wise with the fan panel. Your stuff should run cool enough.

Get rid of the 6U rack, power conditioner, and downsize to a 4U rack with a surge strip in the back... such a setup is lighter, smaller, less expensive, and every bit as functional...

Yeah, I'm not much on hauling around dead weigh - IME, a typical rack drawer is about 10-15lbs, and a power conditioner is a waste of rackspace, when a good surge strip will do the exact same job... My rack has a fairly heavy bass amp, tuner, wireless receiver, speaker cable, a surge strip with a built-in 12' powercord, spare instrument cable and speaker cable, - and still weighs under 50lbs...

I don't see myself hauling around a 6U rack case for bass, but to each their own...

You say you want something useful. What would be useful to you? Get something you need. Don't just get something to fill up the empty space. I agree with everyone on the blank panel, or getting a smaller rack and making it a little lighter.

I know that's not the answer you want.

As someone with a 6RU you rack I can only recommend the things I chose to put in my rack.

I would put a compressor in. I have an Tech 21 RPM pre in mine also, but you have an Ampeg and an OD so no need in your case. Although the RPM to me is a better OD than any pedal I have used, and has quite a powerful eq, so can be used as a 2nd channel if OD isn't needed.
