there isn't a cure but at least I can drink rice beer. . . it's not soo bad. but being a beer drinker having to switch over to the harder stuff these days I'm getting bombed WAY more often

it does suck, I can't eat a large amount of foods I'm used to anymore - I miss sandwiches and beer the most, followed closely by pizza

On the other hand, a standard measure of spirits in the UK is 25 or 35 ml, in the USA it's 1.5 US fl oz (44 ml). According to Wikipedia anyway.

Americans are so obsessed with getting loaded that beer companies here make beer *far* too strong for my tastes. As I've told more than one youngster at the bar, it's a marathon, not a sprint. ah yeah there are those people who drink 5 drinks in as many minutes then act like retards,me an my drummer prefer the slow an steady aproach,we did a 24hour drinking session on new years from 12pm till 12pm the next day we had a beer an hour sometimes with a coke so we didnt dehydrate,problem is normally places shut too early for us too get proper drunk lol

If you go to Hofbrauhaus in northern kentucky you can order .5 or 1 liter glasses of beer. I usually get beer by the pint or drink it straight from the tap with a hose.

I couldn't agree more. The American micro-brews are obsessed with alcohol percentage.

Cold climate: bigger beers.

Hot climate: smaller beers.

You want smaller beers in a hot climate because otherwise they will get warm and flat faster.

This is however immaterial when discussing England and its beers because they are already warm and flat.

(Note I didn't say anything about lagers so those about to chime in can get off their high horses. They don't really count anyway - Fosters is not English )

More and more restaurants and pubs in the US now offer a variety of glass sizes for beers on tap. You can stick with the typical 12 oz., or order a larger 18 or 24 oz. glass if you prefer.
