what size are beers in america?

Many bars that serve particular beers (for example, many Belgians, have the proper glass on hand, (i.e., Duvel, Chimay, etc.). These glasses vary in size.

It's sad... Most bars will serve a 12 oz glass and call it a "pint". There's a bar up in Pasadena called "Brits" that serves in proper pint glasses and they even have a hand-pump for the Fullers ESB... God love 'em!

A US bottle or can of beer is usually 12 US fl. oz. or 355 milliliters.

A US pint is 16 US fl. oz. or 473 milliliters.

A UK pint is 20 Imperial fl. oz. or roughly 568 milliliters.

If you go to Hofbrauhaus in northern kentucky you can order .5 or 1 liter glasses of beer. I usually get beer by the pint or drink it straight from the tap with a hose.

It varies wildly. Your average bar is pouring 12 ounces. Bars that actually give a damn about beer and have an at least adequate selection will use a proper pint or imperial pint glass for many beers. Belgians vary in size and glass shape and bigger beers like barley wines and imperial stouts often start at 7 oz.
