What size Cabinet do you use to play Live

I can't think of a situation where a well built 2x12 with a poweful head won't get the job done.
I sometimes use more but I can't say I need to.

I TOTALLY just played a wedding gig as a sub on drums (I play drums on occasion... *not* my preference, but the habit has to pay itself SOMEhow!), and the bassist had a setup almost identical to this. Oof… what a sound. Excellent player, and quality gear (he happened to be playing a late-model Fender USA 5-string Jazz Bass). NICE!

I was just doing the sums and failing, 'cos I get a bit confused by db maths... All else being equal, roughly how much power would you need to push into a 2*10 to equal the SPL of 100W into an 8*10. Is it 800W, or is it more?

Used to use 200w Marshall or 300w Sunn into 2x10 & 2x12 cabs or a 100w Marshall into 1x15 & 2x10 cab running at 4ohm, but lately a 100w Marshall and 2 ampeg portabass 1x10s with eminence drivers gives me all the stage volume I need with great tone. FOH does the heavy lifting.

I ultimately locked into my 4x10. While 8x10's are cool, they're kind of rough in terms of space, weight and mobility. There are also some situations where they're just too much. I really liked using a 2x10 in terms of space and weight. However, in many rooms, I struggled to get enough low end out it. It was like all the bass just disappeared. The 4x10 brings enough low end and volume without being too difficult to move or place on a small stage. Based on the poll, it seems like 12's and 15's are also quite popular, but I haven't had as much experience with them.

I depends on where we’re playing..but I mostly used a 2x12 throughout the season. Also use a 2x10, 4x10 and single speaker cabs. This Bag End gives me many options.

Anywhere from a sweet little Carvin MB210 Combo for the smaller gigs to a killer Mesa Boogie D800 w/Accugroove El Whappo cab (which is comprised of a 15", 12", 6" and 2 x tweeters) for the medium to bigger shows.
I have a great Eden Rig for a med to big shows but has been somewhat retired, it is just too heavy to lug around.

There's a seeming consensus of what size rig you need to play live bass here, which is totally at odds with my experience. So I thought, what size rigs do we really use. Poll is limited to bands playing live with an acoustic drummer who uses sticks, otherwise it becomes too meaningless.
I'll do one for amplifier power rating as well. If you have something not listed, then pick the next one up, eg for 3*12 select 4*12. Only select tweeter if you actually use it, not if its turned off! Unlimited selections so you folks with complex rigs can mix and match, or add all your different rigs...

I never mind carting around the Henry. It might up there with its weight, but it performs at ALL volume levels.

Use my Traynor 410 neo cab with a GK1001RBII head for most gigs, but also have a GK MB112II combo for smaller gigs.

Interesting that the most popular choice is 212, since I've been thinking of getting the 112MBP to add to my combo for gigs where I need more volume but don't have the space for a 410.

I use two 4x10s (i.e. total of 8x10). Every now and again I'll bring just one of the 4x10s if I think I can get away with it.

Genz Benz Neox 212t. It's handled any gig I've had indoor or outdoors easily. Classic rock band with a horn section, so we're pretty loud but not ear splitting loud.

Looking back on it, a good 1x15 paired with the right amp would have been all I really needed.
