What size Cabinet do you use to play Live

I lucked into a couple great configurations. I've owned 2 x Eden EX110's for a few years--that stacked vertically running at 4 ohms will handle 600 watts. The mini stack is very loud for its size, and very toneful. I push it with a GK MB500. @Al Kraft

My second and newest configuration is a DNA DNS112 clone built by LowDown. It has a Mesa 12" 4ohm neo and a tweeter. This little guy sounds fantastic for the size and weight. I run it with my GK MB200 because it gets the full 200 watts at 4ohms. It's a super setup. I've used it a couple times for small gigs but never had a chance to push it. I love the growly yet deep tone of the cab.

EDIT: The Eden pic is from another TB'er's sale. The DNS112 clone is undergoing a cosmetic lift with new smaller metal corners. I'm not much for those large plastic things. It also has a 'cart' two wheel stand that makes it rolling transportable, but I'm taking it off and selling it. the cab is light enough to transport even for my old bones!

Varies a lot. 1x12 combo for small gigs. Add another single 12 cab under the combo if I need a slight bit more. 1x15 under the 1x12 combo amp if I need a little more. 2 x 115 cabs is usually my biggest rig, but on occasion, and almost always on an outdoor gig, I'll drag out a single 215 cab and the two 115 cabs stacked next to it, for lots or air movement. That rig also requires two amps.

My regular gig rig is a 4x10 on a 1x15. However, I sometimes run a 2x10 on 4x10.

1x15 combo since about 1994. Only bass amp I had.

Added a 1x15 cab and a 4x10 cab to my gear garage last year, to use with my new PF-800. I use the 1x15 when I don't need to turn up that much, and the 4x10 when I do (it is rated at twice the power handling as the 1x15). I have only used the 4x10 twice since buying it about a year and a half ago.

I know there are a million variables, but man I envy you guys who can do do gigs with small rigs. Short of using high dollar boutique cabs, I don't know how you do it. High quality 410 rigs seem to be the the minimum for me. Without FOH support.

I have 2 different rigs for 2 bands. We mostly play small venues with no FOH support but my drummers are beasts! My punk/alternative band: custom ported 4x12 with tweeter I built (pic in my avatar).

Very efficient, full range. My pop punk band (sorry): Ampeg 8x10 refinished in Mountain Dew Baja Blast.

Yep. I haven't truly needed to own anything bigger than a 1x12 for years now. Anything bigger has always been backline, usually an SVT. In some smaller - med joints, the backline is often some knackered old 4x10 rig that works just fine. I only own two combo amps now. My trusty B100R and a GK 1x12.

I generally use a 4X10 but I also have 2X10, 2X12, 2X15 & 4X15. I have a question for those of you who mix cabinet configurations. I generally use my Eden 4X10 with a WT400 head. But have had great results using the Eden 4X10 as an extension cabinet driven by a Line 6 LD400 PRO 2X10 combo. This is a great sounding set up.
However I bought an Eden 2X10 cabinet thinking I could run the Eden 2X10 with the Eden 4X10 powered by the WT400 and all I got was a 2X10 that was over powered. I curious as to how you all do it.

When using a speaker as an extension in a combo situation I'm guessing that the combo amp somehow prevents the overpowering of the 2X10 side?

There's a seeming consensus of what size rig you need to play live bass here, which is totally at odds with my experience. So I thought, what size rigs do we really use. Poll is limited to bands playing live with an acoustic drummer who uses sticks, otherwise it becomes too meaningless.
I'll do one for amplifier power rating as well. If you have something not listed, then pick the next one up, eg for 3*12 select 4*12. Only select tweeter if you actually use it, not if its turned off! Unlimited selections so you folks with complex rigs can mix and match, or add all your different rigs...

I do play “no drummer” gigs and for those I use a 1x12.
