What song for an audition???

Hello. I go to an arts school for film and I'm looking to transfer into the bass conservatory. I need to choose 1min of a song to play for the audition.I want to play a song that shows that I have skill and versatility. I want to show them I'm a good choice and that I can play whatever they throw at me. I was thinking of "millionaire waltz" by queen but I don't know if that's a good choice. Any suggestions? Thanks :)

Okay Crow, listen up. I preface my comments as follows: I do not know if you are competing to enter a first tier school, or not, AND you mention bass conservatory, but you are in the bass guitar subforum of TalkBass.

First off, we are only dealing with one minute, and you have to showcase your "bass mastery AND musicality" in that minute. Find out who will be on the review panel at the Conservatory. Find out what genre of music, composers, etc. that they respect and like. Learn it and play it, it's only 1 minute. If you reach an empasse in your recon, then go with a Bach Cello Suite. I would not consider anything that was pop unless you put a significant personal spin on it. My vote goes to classical or jazz. Good luck and tell us what happened.
