What Squire Jazz model is this? Please help.

I'm looking to buy a Squire CV jazz, and I stumbled upon this strange thing, someone is selling. Is this just a standard Squire someone slapped a Classic Vibe 70'ies neck on, because I cant find anything like it on the internet? Help appreciated. Thanks. (sorry for the squashed image, not tech savvy)

You nailed it. Old 00s Squier "Standard" with the oddball size pickups and the Squier 77 neck on it.

That's an upgrade if it plays nice.
Thanks. So probably a standard with an upgrade. Unfortunately the seller knows nothing about this bass (it belonged to her dad) so she cant tell me if the pickups are upgraded too. Too far away for me to try out too. Might be a risky deal.

I should clarify; it's not the original neck, but it's a good neck and the Squier 77 with pearloid markers is pretty rare. I should have bought one back in the day.

They made quite a few of these Standards, some in some pretty neat colors, and I will confess that redburst body I find kind of hideous. On the bonus side, the whole thing looks brand-new.

The pickups are not upgradeable, but they sound quite nice, so as long as they are working you should be in good shape. But they are an odd size and nobody makes replacements, unless you can find what is known as the "Mexican spacing" EMG pickups. I don't know if those are still made nor can I tell you for certain that they fit, having not done it myself. Nor does anyone offer originals.

EDIT: on examination of the photo, the strings are VERY off center. Someone put that neck on wrong, looks like. I would give this one a miss.

Yeah, I just noticed that neck thing too. It's a no go! Case closed.

Not so sure the neck is off. The picture was definitely taken at an angle from the G-string side of the bass. Notice you can see the side of the neck and the ends of the pickups. The alignment might look just fine from a more direct view.
That's a BIG gab between the fretboard edge and the g string. Not sure it just the angle. Looking at my basses from an angle, I cant get that perspective at all. Might simply be a string spacing issue. The wrong seize bridge? Or an impossibly high action?

That's a good price if it's playable or can be made playable. I would ask for another photo showing the string alignment straight on, and also one showing the string height.
I'm not chancing it. I cant get to try it and since it's not the original neck, gawd knows what else the previous owner did to it. Imma hold out for a real CV 70'ies Jazz.
