what strings for a Music Man Stingray??

Hei, i'm new here

What strings do you recomend to me for a Music Man Stingray??
It´s a 4 strings Music man Stingray with standard tuning
And I'm looking for a rock tone similar to rage against the machine more or less

I have been using Elixir nano web 45-105 but they has not convinced me

Thanks to all

Sorry, I don't have a specific recc for ROTM sound, but I think TC uses Ernie Ball nickel rounds. I will also add that, as a fellow Stingray owner, they are extremely sensitive to string choice - different strings will sounds dramatically different on them. I love Chromes on mine, but Chromes will definitely NOT get you the sound you want!

I have used roto’s 66 nickels, 77 flats and TI Jazz Flats on my Stingray.

I would think you would want a nickel round wound to get the grind TC has in so many songs.

The mids of the TIJF sound good on a 3 band Stingray, but you won’t get the same level of grind from them as you would from a round wound.

I agree with Ierm, Stingrays are sensitive to string changes (in a good way). You never know what tone you are going to get until you try it.

For some reason, I have found Ernie Ball strings to work really well on a Stingray. ;)

Funny that - although truth be told, I've no idea what strings they originally shipped with, from 1976-1984, before Ernie Ball bought Music Man (given Sterling Ball's involvement in the original design phase of the Stingray, and his unkle having designed the original 2 band pre-amp, it wouldn't surprise me if it has always been EB strings).

Yes, EB round wound nickel Super Slinkys sound the most archetypically "Stingray" like - though for what it's worth, I use Rotosound stainless steel Swing 66's, for a different flavour.

They originally shipped with GHS Brite Flats.

I was going to say the same thing. I experimented a bit with different brands on my EBMM Sterling, and I found it sounded it's best when I put a new set of Slinkys on it.

I've used GHS Boomers on it for the last few years to make it sound fatter and not so bright on it's top end.

Rocked Dean Markleys for years on my 'Ray. Rage Against the Machine didn't exist then, so can't comment as my tone memory may be hazy. Switched from Rotos after tiring of them losing their magic after a few hours play.

As stated upthread, the StingRay is definitely sensitive to string choice. Been using DR Neons for a few years now, and considering La Bella white tapes or DR Black Beauties. The StingRay punch is in no way diminished with the Neons.
