What the...Darkglass Vintage Microtubes?!?!

More recently I have been playing some of my hotter output basses (L2000, and Alembic) with the Vintage, and the hotter levels really light this thing up.

Yes, I used it with the Wal tonight, and compared to the P bass I was using earlier the difference of potential gain was pretty big, more than I expected. Lots of distortion on tap.

The Wal doesn't really sound "vintage" anyway, but the Vintage was still pretty smooth and flattering. It's been more of a challenge than I expected finding distortion pedals that work well with it, currently I use a VT Bass AND and B3K AND an MXR 6 band eq for it. The high output makes everything sound fizzy, but the Vintage worked well with the era pot at around 1 o'clock and the disto knob well back at maybe 9 o'clock. I'm sold on it.

Here's another recording with the Vintage Microtubes! This time I did my best to cop Geddy Lee's tone from Snakes & Arrows. I really sh&t the bed with my playing on this one...you have been warned!

Same setup as my last clip...MIM Jazz into a GK Fusion 550 as preamp, with the VMT, of course!

The Main Monkey Business!

I just received the Vintage a couple of days ago and I'm learning how to use it. One thing I noticed is with the era knob. As I go from fully counter clockwise to noon, I hear a change; the tone gets brighter. But from noon to fully clockwise, I hear no change.

Granted I was playing at a quieter setting but I did try it at different gain and blend levels. Has anyone else experienced this? Are there particular conditions that enable that part of the era control?

I got my vintage in yesterday. Plugged it in after work... I made my Neck Through Warwick Thumb 5 string sound like Roger Glover's modded Rickenbacker from Machine Head. WOWZER!!!!

Too bad my internet is really slow at the moment, but maybe... I'll try and record and upload something on soundcloud, too! Won't be a full cover, hopefully 30 secs to a minute won't take half an hour to upload!

Nailed the tone and your playing is excellent!

Sounds great ! Has anyone asked how the sound of this pedal compares to the VT Bass Pedal ?

Edit- I just found the thread that talks about the difference. Great sounding pedal !

Whoa hey! Thanks for the props everyone! Especially from Mr. Darkglass himself! I just wish now that I had properly learned the song all the way through!

But yeah I can't possibly be the only one uploading clips...I know there has to be other peple getting some awesome tones through their VMTs! :bassist:

Spot the devil's machine! I need to admit it's way more quiet than my Agro pedal in terms of hissiness.

Because I'm so so so very very very lazy, I just hooked up B3K->Vintage. I haven't had a chance to do any critical listening yet.

Has anybody played around with B3K->Vintage as opposed to Vintage->B3K? Any feelings on which works best?

Also, I'm thinking about trading my B3K up to a B7K, in which case it seems the B7K should go last so I can use the B7K eq on the Vintage signal. Anybody tried both orders with these two?

I have been running the B3k into the vintage. I like it but I'll try it the other way too.
