I put the VMT back on the pedalboard for tonight's gig ... I hope there's someone with musicians ears in the audience who I know and who can give an opinion.

This is where the VMT shines ^^^
I've been enjoying mine before the VT. It adds a shimmer to the VMT
So it went well, used three basic settings; a clean sound, an "SFT sound", and a "VMT sound" ... several people came up during and after the show and said we rocked, one guy even said it was the best music he had heard over 20 years at that venue ... but none of them were musicians, all were drunk as skunks, and no-one mentioned any particular effects pedal. So, I'm actually not quite sure how we sounded, if it really was good, or how much credit should go to the VMT.

Get a wireless and go out there during sound check if you can.
I've definitely considered that, the PA is mine (seems quite common that the bass player is also handling a lot of other stuff includng the PA?) but I seldom have a lot of time to check the sound. I tend to rely on the other guys listening (the guitar players are wireless) and tweak the PA on their instructions. But I'll have to do something about that.
This is OT then, but is the Line6 wireless the one to get? Is the G30 OK with a low B? G50 worth the extra monies?

I got my VMT a couple of days ago, i'm amazed with the sound, for sure the best tube overdrive i've heard in my life, extremely real like if i had a 70's amp or something!
One thing i found a little strange, i would like to know your opinion...the level knob seems to me extremely sensitive, i have to use it less than 9'clock to give the extra boost compared with the bypassed, so a small touch in this knob is kinda extreme immediately...any thought?

Same here. I don't go much past 9:00 on the level with everything else around 2:00. Just too much boost. When I see other settings on here most of the level knobs are around 12:00. It makes me wonder if other really like to boost.
I think if you have the blend low you can turn up the level higher...if I'm remembering correctly. Think it depends on how you play with those two knobs
yeah, the blend & level knobs can help you get some pretty different sounds in the mix, in my main band (no guitars) i have the blend quite high and the level back a bit, but with a new project (sharing the mix with a guitar) i've dialed the blend down a bit and cranked the level up a touch, sits in the mix lovely! great mids with some good bite & clarity.
I've been using mine for very hairy fat distortion like the teaser classic rock video on YouTube. Drive 2/3:00, Era 2:00, Blend 3:00, Level (little boost @2db) 10:00 !!AWESOME!!

For me it really depends on the gain setting. I usually keep the blend max'd, just 'cause. If I want overdrive gain, I have to keep the level around 9 o'clock. I still don't get much past noon with the gain at a minimal setting. There is some beefy output available, for sure, but it's one reason I think it's so good at driving other drives and fuzzes.

What amp and cab you use is IMHO not too important or at least overrated since the FOH sound often is mainly coming from the PA anyway. A lot of people go direct using a DI from the pedalboard, not even micing the cabinet or using the amp's preamp out, so the amp is just for your monitoring on stage. YMMV, etc.

Fair enough, but my mileage does vary
I rarely go FOH, even had outside gigs without PA (gk neo 412 is a beast!). I'd say, 90% of time I don't DI.
Just wondering on the tonal character you're all getting mixing your amps with vmt.
Since you're mentioning foh, how does vmt sound like through DI? Haven't tried it yet so I'm quite curious.

I mean, the little I listened it sounded as expected, vintage-y drive with quite a lot of mids. Nice for the Cream and Hendrix covers we do, but as I'm not really into that sound I'm probably the wrong person to have an opinion on the finer details of the VMT tone. Hopefully someone else with DI experience can chime in.
