Those two were direct, with the B3K going into a Tech21 Oxford as my "amp/cab". The Oxford was set pretty warm and clean, with just a little fur added when pushed. The grind is definitely coming from the B3K though. It definitely seems to overtake any pedal or amp I've used with it thus far, while still transferring their character into the mix. (The delayed clip is definitely going against the stereotype that Rics have no bottom as well:) )

So had a chance with the VMT live with the band. It's my second VMT and I didn't keep the first long enough to use it live. I sold the first because it didn't keep the highs very well but I rebought it because I did love the mids so much to give it a second chance.

I think it was defiantly designed for live use. The mids cut through so good. highs are overrated, the mids are where the magics at. It is still new to me but I'm liking how it sounds so far.

This is exactly why I got rid of mine. And that's exactly why I want it back now.

And I think you also need a B3 or 7k to satisfy the craving for bright gritty drive. If Darkglass made one that sweeps both drives and everything in between (I'm sure they have in a prototype) with a preamp it would be the best selling pedal of all time but none of there others would sell anymore. :scowl:

That's the best way to describe the Myco Three. It can't do either drives but it sounds like a middle ground (or a bridge) to each drive. :)

He hear ya. Those were my thoughts when I got the 7. I was thinking that the VMT would sound awesome through the 7. Hopefully some day I'll grab another one. It's not in the cards at the moment.

The mids are in spades, for sure, and this little pedal def cuts through a live mix. But a point that isn't brought up as often and that really impresses me is the amount of bottom end that booms through, even with the blend at 100% wet. Every overdrive I've had loses the lower frequencies by virtue of breakup and/or compression, even the ones that people say don't lose any low end (like the BB). The VMT is massive on the low end, which is why I really like it before most of my fuzzes.

So here's a question: anyone running a B3K or B7k and a VMT parallel to a tech 21 product such a VT Deluxe?

Curious if the VT could be used for the "clean/speaker sim" side of things akin to running an SVT to the point just before it breaks up, then click on the VMT to add extra character and saturation when needed (or leave it on for driven SVT).

Kinda. Instead of the B?k I use the EBS Billy Sheehan Drive the same way (Gritty light OD) and kick on the VMT for heavy parts. The VT changes any overdrive that goes into it and makes it more grindy/bright. I love how it effects the VMT.

I think you're right. I knew that tech 21's VT was shooting for the SVT in sound and name. I just forgot about what you said, super valve tech, until I read what you posted. I second that.
