Yeah, I was thinking that as I read what you were playing through. I guess similar tonal goals with the synthy sounding stuff.

I never had much luck with the mammoth after a pedal though... it'll come close, but just doesn't seem quite as nice to me and I eventually just gave up on trying.

I play sunday morning modern church music. so i have a slew of overdrive pedals and a with a side salad of a distortion, flanger, delay and wah, all compressed at the end. each pedal doesn't get used every week, and once in a while I won't even touch a pedal for a Sunday, but they get used regularly, especially for rehearsals where i experiment.

I use em in pretty much anything..... but then again, these days I'm just in this for the fun, so I'm being rather selective about what I play and with whom, and stick to situations where I don't get a lot of instructions about what to do.

i play in a variety cover band. and i do this for a living. right now i have 2 gigs. my main gig though is in a hotel lounge where we play all styles less the rock and metal stuffs, we play not so loud music. so i go straight to the SVT combo amp to the PA. but i leave my whole pedalboard to another place, its a small pub with lots of foreigners(i'm staying in thailand) and we play louder and more styles specially rock to heavy metal at the end of the night. i use the bassdrive for light overdrive when playing rock, i have a VFB-2 to blend my mpog and boss hm2 for heavy distortion with octave up to support my guitar player when he's soloing. my mxr bass DI and compulator is ON all the time for my main tone. analogman chorus for some slow stuffs, mxr blowtorch for some synth type disco or r n' b stuffs, hysteria sometimes. maxon af-9 to funkify things every now and then. and i use x2 wireless and finally loop-master 3 loops with tuner and bypass, makes my life easier. so i guess my small board does the job that i need. all the pedals there have their own share.

My effect is one Boss ODB-3 and it's always on. It sits on top of my amp.

I play a mix of progressive metal, thrash, and post-metal. Effects-wise, here's what I'm currently using:

MXR Blowtorch => Boss PS-3 Digital Pitch Shifter/Delay => EHX Electric Mistress

I also use a Roland EV-5 Expression Pedal for manual pitch shifting and harmonies in the same way I would use a Bass Whammy if I had one.

The Blowtorch is used for two heavy riffs, and it really works well with the rigs my guitarists are using (Bogner and Mesa-Boogie). The Electric Mistress sees use in a few mellow sections and solos when the guitars have settled back to give me room for fun. So far, all three of these pedals have worked very well live, and cut through well in the mix without drowning out the band.

For general clean and overdriven tones, I rely on my amp - a GK 2001RB.
