What was Coltrane thinking?

I stumbled across this sketch by Jon Coltrane here, might be fun diversion
It's not unlike some of my own 'theory doodles' where I'm trying to work out relationships between scales , tones and chords.

Admittedly I have not spent much energy trying to decipherer this glyph
But I love how it echoes medieval talismans in structure

Any guesses what this is trying to explain?

Thanks for link. This is a very interesting cycle that I didn't know of.

Like Slominsky's work I think Coltrane is trying to make scales with more than one octave (may be). I'll try to figure out those 3 notes circles.

Also it seems at looking at the numbers inside, Coltrane is cutting the octave at the middle point at the tritone with 7 semi-tones.

Anyway thank you for that, I'll try to learn something out of it ;-)
