learned a lot of riffs before learning a complete song . my First song was Audioslave- Like a stone .

Joe Satriani Surfing with the Alien
When I was a guitar player we'd have jams over my buddy's place on Wednesdays. We were all guitar players so everybody took turns on the bass. The Trooper was mine.
When I became a full time bass player, I got in a band immediately with older than me guys that played around town when I was a youngster. The first song I learned was an original from back then called Tracey Marie. My older brother was the bass player then, I don't really remember the song. I'm doing my take on it, they seem happy with it. Someday I'd like to get with my brother and hear how he played it. He lives on the other side of the state and I don't see him much.

I started on guitar. The first song was "Rock N Me" by Steve Miller. When I switched to bass, I learned three songs at the same time, "Firehouse" by KISS, "Jailbreak" by Thin Lizzy and "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath.
I suspect Louie Louie was first. Then Gloria, maybe House of the Rising Sun next. Wipe Out, Heat Wave, and Midnight Hour, wrapped up the first rehearsal.
I believe it was Smells Like Teen Spirit.
A hard rock version of Wild Thing. You may want to work on a few simple songs as well as Tom Sawyer. Getting a few songs down, even if they’re simple is definitely encouraging when you’re starting out.
Played many riffs and partial songs, but I believe the first full one was Got This Thing On The Move by Grand Funk Railroad.
Inna-gadda-da-vidda Took me so long to learn that my hearing-impaired father could still hum that bass line some 40 years later...
Anarchy in the UK...figured anything Sid could do (kind of), I could do.
On a real bass? Maybe Honkey Tonk Woman or a Okie from Muskogee with the older folks. With my own age band it was most likely a CCR song like Born on the Bayou. Its hard to remember that far back
Eagles - Hotel California... sitting on one of those large carpeted blocks in the hallways in a Del Mar high school way back when there were no doors to the classrooms.
