What was your first bass guitar?

Technically my first bass was a rental because my parents didn't think I would stick with it (guess I showed them because it's 16 years later and I'm still playing) and wouldn't buy me a bass. It was a late 90s Ibanez P bass kind of thing in blue with white pickguard. Once I proved I was committed, I got a blue Squier Jazz for my birthday about a year later.

1979 Peavey T-40, bought at a pawn shop in 1987 for less than $100. Played it for 10 years before I found out that all basses "aren't supposed to be" that heavy! I just assumed they all were! Still own it, still play it, will never get rid of it.

A brand-new Fender Musicmaster! 1977. I worked all summer and paid installments...6 months later, traded for a '72 P bass w/ a Jazz neck...and then? The trading and buying and trading and buying ensued. It's a real sickness and I got it BAD.

70s Univox pbass clone, sunburst, bought for peanuts in the mid 80s when pawnshops were still awesome (pre-ebay).

It got me through junior high and highschool, then I gave it to my brother.

I had a Peavey t40 that was school issued when I played in the Jazz Band.. it was a beast, very heavy built like a tank. After that I got a cheap no name bass, I don't even remember the name brand I promptly sanded the finish off, refinished it clear on natural wood and that's how the madness began. I was probably 15 or so. It was along the lines of a Harmony or similar.

An early 70's Carlo Robelli Jazz bass, gosh dang that was one sweet bass, as good as most late 60's Fenders.
