What was your first bass guitar?

If there is already a forum dedicated to this, as I'm sure there must be, please let me know. Using the search function, I was unable to find one, so I'm going to go ahead and take the plunge.

Mine is a Peavey Millennium BXP-4.

Mine was a 60's Zim Gar Made in Japan. Moved to a 1969 Fender Precision that I should have never sold. Then The Ampeg Horizontal Scroll Bass. I'm still kicking myself over that one. What was I thinking? Then I moved to a 65 Fender Jazz which I later sold. Are we beginning to see a pattern here? I finally settled with a Vintage Fender Precision and a Lakland 55-94.

GTX Applause P Bass Copy, purchased at a Walnut Creek, CA music store for $300 (yeah, I think we got ripped) in Dec 1989.

Sorry, it was mangled in a bad accident...

But it still works! Original pickups and bridge. Of course, it's been converted to a fretless. For many years it sat in the basement, unnoticed, and afraid - in the dark. Now, it sits on the window seat and is able to look out at the view on nice days. sometimes I play it.

Mine was (and still is my main bass) a Yamaha BB400s made in 1978 from what my research has found. It was bought for $75 in 1990 from a pawn store and had been painted dark blue with a roller brush and had a car badge stuck to it.
Over the years she has been painted a few times, but is now white with a green/purple pearl effect added and has a Dimarzio Will Power p/up. Still my favourite to play and is gigged every weekend and sounds great in the studio too!

I got stinkin' lucky. My first bass was a highly collectible Burns Bison Bass, mid '60s. Bought it in '69, when it wasn't quite so collectible. Here's a thread with lots of pix on details including the amazing Burns floating bridge.

Same '93 black one.

Still used it up until 2 weeks when I got the sudden urge to whip out the sander and tools and it's my latest project bass. It's gonna be getting new paint (going Inca Silver and matching the headstock.) Gotoh 201, Curtis Novak harness with Orange Drops and 500k pots, and a new white pearloid Pickguard.

Keeping the neck and tuners stock as I really really really love the neck as it is. Perfect weight, balance, and feel for me.
