For the US market, maybe Yamaha could make actual changes to their manufacturing so it says "Made in USA" instead of just "Assembled in USA"

In Heritage case since all parts are foreign, I question the validity of "Assembled in the USA" as it's not substantially transformed in the United States.

I do not desire for a "Yamaha" Ampeg anymore than a Loud version. I only asked if anyone had one.. but this thread has turned into anything but that including new Ampeg merch...

IMHO the answers to all of those questions are TBD. Even if Yamaha keeps the same production lines with the same people, equipment, and parts suppliers, it's possible worker attitudes will be different and it will reflect in the quality of the products. Depending upon the nation in which production occurs, attitudes could shift positive or negative in response to the new Japanese parent company.

Jess Oliver kept finding tweaks for the B-15 right up until the Heritage B-15 in 2010, which unfortunately coincided with his stroke and eventual passing. And the SVT-VR has only been around since like 2005 and was a near-complete redesign of the original Blue Line. I think it's highly possible that Yamaha engineers could find little tweaks and such that they'd like to change...could be as simple as changing one part, could be something more major. But I highly doubt that the basic sound will change. That is something most of us agree shouldn't be messed with, at least in channel 1 :D And the LOUD stuff is great, no doubt. But a lot of people are looking forward to see what Yamaha brings to the table when they control manufacturing of the SVT's, and it's not a slam against LOUD or SLM. Or Jess Oliver, Unimusic, MTI or Magnavox, for that matter.

I don't think Ampeg will change under Yamaha ownership. Yamaha does a good job and they won't want to mess with a product that has great branding and heritage, it will just be a matter of tweaking the operation to make it more efficient but not so much the products which are already good.

Think about it, Yamaha make basses but don't really have a bass amp, Ampeg have great bass amps.
