Remember it in theory but never saw it. Hard to imagine the projector not tearing itself apart but very cool concept. Met Trumbull when he was doing pre-production on Brainstorm.
Along the lines of ambitious formats, in the 80's I did see Coppola's restoration of Abel Gance's 1927 Napoleon where it was three screens side by side (outdoors) for the climax battle scenes (plus Carmine Coppola conducting live orchestra). Pretty amazing.

A friend of mine introduced to me to Doug at an AES show at the L. A. Convention Center in the mid '80s. Doug was going to do a demo of Showscan in his Marina Del Ray off/screening room the next night and invited us to check it out. I was blown away by its amazing visual capabilities.

If the CGI had been better, I would have enjoyed it a lot more. Same for the Ang Lee version. I really like Ruffalo's take on the Hulk, though, and I hope he gets a stand-alone someday.

I have a confesh’ and I’m not afraid to say…








I just saw it. And it was really good. With my wife (PhD and feminist) and my daughter (PhD candidate). My kid saw it and begged us to go with her to see it and she even paid for the tickets so I had no skin in it. It was really good.

I swear. Is that ok?

And Ryan Gosling was fabulous and stole the show.

And I’m not ashamed to say I really enjoyed it.
