Whatever one may think of the music, the worldwide cultural significance of hip hop is immense.

We've been watching all those Crusade DVDs we got a while ago. The series would have been very relevant to what the world was going through beginning around Spring '20.

This one required actually buying a DVD: Upright Citizen's Brigade season 3. Playing off an extrenrnal drive on Windows work laptop over WIFI to TV as was always intended.

Getting tired of all the home improvement and veterinarian shows, we started watching Law and Order SVU. Started with season one, from 1999. Early impressions...it's a mixed bag...some decent acting (Meloni), some overacting (Belzer), some bad acting (Hargitay). Actually I'm not sure if it's bad acting or just that her character is so unlikeable. Script can get preachy at times. One thing that I find laughable is that so far (about 13 episodes in) is that ALL of the perps all look the same.

That's a real thing these past few years. Movies are bloated because shooting, editing and distributing digital is cheap, so more is better. When everything was on film, shooting for hours with multiple cameras cost a fortune and so did printing for distribution to all the theaters. Digital storage is almost free. just punt on the hard editing decisions - if in doubt, leave it in.

It was shot on film (IMAX). Lots of controversy around the edit (particularly the credits) as it was at the absolute maximum capacity.

Watched this with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised:

Years ago I saw an interesting documentary from a guy who was comparing writings in an ancient text against constellations of the time period. At one point he showed what happened in the year ad 33 at a particular crucial hour, certain second, on a particular ritual day. It showed a certain constellation being lit up in the sky.

The only thing was, that sky event would have only been visible if you were standing on the... moon. He was using software that is available to anyone.
